Last Dance In The Hall

I am a human of pure nostalgia. I love anything that takes me back/reminds me of great memories. I never want to let things go. Music has that effect to take me back very quickly to a happier time or situation. One of New Yorks most iconic rights of passage for any 19 or older wanting to get a taste of night life has officially closed its doors. The great Webster Hall is now closed for renovations. It is will be closed until sometime in November 2017 and will reopen its doors with new owners and management but it will never be the same.20170811_031017 I feel like I grew up there. Webster hall provided me with many experiences & memories I will never forget. There was the first *and last* time I got on stage for amateur strip night for my 21st birthday. Did I when? No but my cousin did lol. Gotta like a nice set of double Ds on a pretty girl. $450 in the pocket just for a flash. I saw the one and only Corrine Bailey Rae, after trying to see her for 10 years since she came out. I got taken back to my high school music roots with a closing show of  a Good Charlotte concert. 20170806_233225I won tickets to the Downtown Festival were I was introduced to one of the waviest bands Vactioner. Webster gave many young woman and myself their first spin on stripper poles. They were just for show but fun as hell. I introduced many of my friends to the the club for only kind of night life you can experience in NYC. One night we randomly complimented a lovely lady who happened who be celebrating officially be coming a doctor and was offered to hang out and drink with her.20170806_193931 Another night we danced with beautiful men in drag till the shut the club down. One night we met a group of guys who invited us to go to Ihop. The journey getting there was the most hilarious thing in the world. Im still not sure how we fit 8 grown ass drunken adults in that small 4 door car. Another time after work we decided we didn’t wanna go home so we headed to Webster for Ladies Night. One of my friends for got there ID at work so we felt the plan of the night failed. 20170811_032414Cleverly all we needed was a marker to save the day. We squeeze her behind the fence  into the smoking section outside, marked her hand up identical to everyone else then chatted up a few people standing there just to make it look good. We stood there staring at the entrance as she walked up in hopes that the bouncer didnt know what just happened. She flash her marked up hand and walked in with no problem.20170806_193304 The adrenaline rush of knowing we pulled off sneaking someone in to Webster Hall just made the night even more exciting. I found out both of my friends were pregnant at Webster lol. It was two separate occasions but cool none the less. Whenever one of my friend attended ladies night she alway got licked by someone.20170811_032455 Till this day we still never understood it but without fail someone licked her lmao. As I got older my trips to Webster Hall for parties decreased drastically. I went there for more concerts but still randomly every few years making an appearance for a party. So the on their final night I decided to go shake a tail feather for good time sake. It was exactly what I remember. 20170811_020138As it was ladies night there were tons of girls with guys to follow, music blasting on every floor, squads taking pictures to save that lasting moment. To my pleasant surprise a few dancers from when I was a teen,  showed up & showed out for the last night. A guy I remember seeing partying at Webster on many occasions now worked as security and the stage on the entrance floor no longer had the infamous poles but was still filled with people. I will never forget those moment I spent there (especially because there a bunch of pics and video on a hard drive somewhere in my house) at Webster Hall.20170811_032643 I can only hope with all thats new coming to the venu that it will have the same impact that it has provided for decades before.

Twas The Greatest Day!

My journey to foreign territory aka the Bronx in search of The Greatest Day Ever and I shall say it definitely lived up to its name. DAY 1: To my surprise it really that bad of a travel to get to the festival. Although it took 2 hours it was totally worth it. Once though the gates you were greeted with the site of carival rides, beautiful people and bass thumping music. The line up consisted of Tropkillaz, Westside Gunn & Conway the Machine, They. , Dj Esco, Kyle, Anna Lunoe, Mr. Carmack, Bro Safari and Dillion Francis. I miss half of Tropkillaz set because of travel but was I did catch was pretty good. Westside Gunn & Conway the Machine gave us some hip hop. 20170715_173943They. were awesome. Dante & Drew’s performance was just as hype as their videos. DJ Esco had the crowded turned ALL THR WAY UP! There was not one body that wasnt moving during his set. By this time I made my way up close to the front for Kyle. He never disappoints. He and Super Duper Brick were so energetic. They busted out some dance moves from the 90’s and giving nothing but Super Duper show.20170715_194840(0) Next up was Anna Loune. Droves of people began to pour in as they set up for her set. I had never heard her play before and she was beyond everything I expected. Words truly can’t described how in Aww I was of her and on top of giving the crowd 1000% she did it 7 months pregnant. That was just the cherry on top of the sundae for me. After the amazing Anna was done I went to some grub. With the amount of jumping around I was doing I needed to refuel. Snack of choice: Loaded Tots *drools*.20170715_185913 With the line being so long and how slow I was eating *savoring every piece of bacon* by the time I got back inside Bro Safari was providing the tunes. Whoever is sidekick was that was dancing on stage for him was hilarious. They definitely got the crowd up and on their feet in preparation for one of my  new faves Dillion Francis.20170716_001421_011_01 I immediately fall in luv with him one year ago when he opened his set playing the Pokémon theme song * he knows his was to a girls heart*. Of course he was blessed us with greatness and gave the crowd a lil 00s throw back tunes. It truly was great way to end the night. DAY 2: I made the trek back to the BX thinking I was late because i got there at 4:15pm and I was just a little bit but it started at 4pm. The line up consisted of: Fight Club, Tunji Ige, Tokimonsta, Green Velvet, Gold Link, The Internet, Post Malone, What So Not and the main attraction Diplo. I caught was was left of Fight Clubs set then decided I would get on some of the rides. Ya gotta take full advantage of all the was given. There was the calm Ferris Wheel, the Zipper which would be recommended to ride on a empty stomach, Himalaya and Alien Invasion.20170715_232755 When I was done Tokimonsta was starting to play. She is one of those artist I like to put on my Groove Train list. She takes ya on a ride. Nothing too hard but nothing soft or mellow but pure groovy baby. Green Velevt kinda put you in a trance. So much so that a spin the bottle dance circle started. If the top points to you, ya get in the circle in show your moves. When he stopped playing we all looked up in confusion like “Damn that was it? Why he stop?”.20170716_192550 Gold Link made me become a fan on the spot. His vibe, his clothing of choice, and his lyric pulled me in. It was one of those moments when I thought “Damnit! I should have Googled him before so I knew the words to his songs”.20170716_195935 I felt so left out with everyone singing along but trust I’ll know them for next time. I was super hype when The Internet took the stage. The group recently all did solo project and I hoped they’d sing a song from those albums and they sure did.  Both Syd & Steve Lacey performanced songs off their project and it made me so happy.20170716_205754 After they finished I went to get some food and sit for a bit so I missed Post Malones performance. I needed that refresher because What So Not got the wharehouse bumping. I danced so much I almost couldn’t catch my breath. They were awesome. Glady right after What So Not finished, there was no time wasted getting Dilpo to the stage. 20170723_101544He never lets ya down. My shirt was fully socked with sweat by the time he was done. Luckily I brought another one for back up. If this was the replace or a hold over for Mad Decent Block Party, I ain’t mad at it. I defiantly had a great time even thought it was so far I’d travel back for another round of The Greatest Day Ever.

As per usual check my social media stuff  on IG @In_Attendance & on the Snap: Inattendance and ENJOY!!!

Half Moon on the Island

Just standing in the area to get in you can tell its just a different vibe. A different vibe from the scenery and two different vibes from the people. The first vibe was my initial thought which was cool and wavy. I like that vibe. Its just the kinda vibe i needed in my life seeing how i survived a major cold 2 days before. The other vibe was irritation, confusion and slightly pissed *because of the heat* . 20170708_142421That second vibe came from the festival starting late. 1 hour and 45 minutes late to be exact! Granted it rained the night before so that would be the reason why…but festival goers dont care about that man. They just wanna get the hell in. Once we were let in, we wandered. We wandered around because there was no music playing. They continued with the original schedule which was the Big Quite Meditation. I get that they wanted to stay with the schedule but it was already a hour and change late opening … Just Get  Right To The Music!!! *Forgive me for I was grouchy by now*20170708_142644 But shout out to Essentia Water! They keep me hydrated for free all day and the behind the booth was major eye candy. 20170708_144356By now all stages are playing music and everything is going as planned. I hung out in the beach area for a bit with Kitsuné present La Plage listening to the tunes and soaking up some much needed sun but the really place to be during the was the Solaar Stage. 20170708_152657I, of course made my was over to it which was a geometric shaped dome with a gigantic disco ball hanging from the center. Just that alone would get your attention but the music pulled you in all the way. There wasn’t a time it wasn’t packed in & outside of the dome.20170708_152932 I eventually went on the hunt for food and found Loosie Rouge. I honestly didnt realize how much i missed grilled corn on the cob til i had theirs. In between dancing my way back and forth between stages i got a chance to check out a few performances such as the Tops,  Abra and Connan Mockasin. 20170708_185816As I scooted my was to the front of the stage to wait for Kelela to perform  Dj Larry Heard took the stage and he was just what I needed. He was joined by Mister White who voice was just melodic. The music they played felt like an awakening; just free and magical. They had everyone dancing. 20170708_194749People came from backstage to dance on the side stage to witness all the greatness that was happening. By now im hype. I danced through their whole entire set and im ready for Kelela to take the stage. 20170708_222900She was just as awesome as I remember from the first I seen her perform. This time I knew the words to the songs unlike the last time. We even got to hear her new single from her upcoming album so we got a real treat. 20170708_223538Unfortunately i didnt stay fot Vic Mensa because from my stage hopping I lost my IPhone and had to go find it. Once I eventually got it back I headed home. Overall the Full Moon Festival waa nice. I was a very very laid back fest which was something i wasn’t expecting. I may return next year depending on who the performers are.

Until then I got 2 festivals left of the summer so stay tuned and as per usual check out the Instagram @in_attendance & Snapchat In attendance for all the in real time fun!

Afropunk 2016 : Day 2

Going back to Afropunk with a new frame of mind made me enjoy it way more than I did the day before. I embraced all that it had to offer. I stood for a second watching the people but this time not in aww but happy  that I got the chance to witness it all. Happy at seeing all the diversity of people.dsc_4678.jpg Happy to know that everyone was welcomed with know questions asked.Still slightly  in aww by the people and their way of dress, with camera in hand I forced myself to pay attention to the music. Before taking in the first performance of the day there was a dance pretty. As the music played the people came.dsc_4656.jpg What started as a small group quickly became half of the parks field being taking up by moving bodies. Dances circles formed.People cheering on strangers and friends who stepped in the center to show their moves.dsc_4675.jpg It was all such a beautiful thing Now on the the MUSIC! Armed with camera in hand my first performance of the day was Angel Haze. She got BARS!!!  It was my first time seeing her perform and I glad I got the chance wit witness her in action. After checking out the tricycle races again I made my way to the gold stage. Somehow the day before I didn’t know it existed but I decided to stay there for the rest of the day and I was glad I did. The next artist I caught was Gallant.HE SANG HIS ASS OFF!!! I was giving me bits of 90s r&b and Prince. Anyone who  gives you bits of Prince in their on original way is a keeper. I was definitely googling him the next day for more. Once his performance  was done I slowly squeezed my way towards the front and Dj Esta began playing. Boy Oh Boy!!!  If there could have been a roof that he could hypothetically tear off, he did the damn thing. Not one soul near the gold stage wasn’t dancing.DSC_4711 Playing a mixture of 90s classics, trap remixes and all thing in between….He was unstoppable. Next up was my newly discovered fav Kelela. She gave so much soul. The group of ladies I was standing next to me knew every word the pretty much every song she sang. She has so many levels to her voice  it was amazing. Her song “Send Me Out” was stuck in head *in a good way* even after I listened to it.dsc_47241 The nights main attraction for me was The Internet. We  were all sooooooo excited to see them live. The crowd swayed together and sang together. Tyler the Creator was in the cut singing along enjoy himself too .We didn’t want it to end, so much so that the crowd started to scream  Encore! dsc_48031

Sadly it didn’t happen but we can always try right.

Stay Tune in to the Snapchat & IG  because its the  time again…. New York Fashion Week!

Afropunk 2016: Day 1

I went into it totally wrong. Thinking this is just a typical concert/music festival my mindset wasn’t able to appreciate it for what it actually is. It’s a celebration of music. It’s a celebration of being proud of who you are. It’s a celebration of creativity. It’s a celebration of blackness.DSC_4632 There is totally no judgement. Wear what you wanna wear. Show out for your peers, express your passion & creativity through you. And let me tell you it was definitely a fashion show to be seen.So many different hair styles & colors. So many pieces of artistic jewelry and patterned outfits it was truly site to see.DSC_4659 Honestly I was so busy looking at how people were dress I barely paid to much attention to the musical acts. The acts I did get attention to pay attention to were definitely worth it.DSC_4674 The first one I caught sight of was Qassim & The Juggernaut War Party. Their style and music was completely unique.Their energy never seemed to end. It seriously looked like a party on stage that you wish were apart of.I mean technically you were but not lol. As I wander aimlessly around passing market area which had amazing finds (sadly I only had cash for food) I stumbled upon Toyota Music Renegade Lab. They had a bunch of cool activities like turning cds in to records that actually play music, making a mini music video and marble body art.DSC_4642 Continuing to wander, I found the tricycle race. It is a very entertaining thing to matching adults race each other on tricycles. DSC_4697The next performance I caught was of Trash Talk a rock band from California. Honestly I wasn’t ready for them. I had no clue what to expect but boy did I get a lot. The voice powerful, the band on point, the excitement of the crowd…Unbelievable!
image

There were mosh pits left & right, people crowd suffering, and  jumping off of the stage. At point he told everybody to leave the park and they  left only to run back in a create another huge mosh pit.
image

After all of that I just stayed in one spot to not only recuperate but to wait for Tyler The Creator. While awaiting  The Creator we were blessed with tunes from DJ Yaadcore of Jamica , giving use reggae and Rastafarian vibes.  Once his set was done it was time for Tyler  and once again I wasn’t ready. And not for Tyler *I’m always ready for him* but the crowd! Myself & others were pushed and pulled like a trapped school of fish from people behind use trying to get closer to the stage.
image

It got so bad that security had to help people over the barricade just so they wouldn’t get squashed to death * Yes I’m being a 5% dramatic but it was real*. Once the pushing calmed down. I was able to take in all the awesomeness of the performance. Once it was done I went home lol. There were other acts performing but after what I just survived I needed to rest.

As per usual check the Snapchat & @in_attendance IG for pics & random fun stuff.

Can’t Call It Decent, More Like Epic!

I can’t call it Mad just because it was FREAKING EPIC!!! The usual 2 days of music, with great people and AMAZEBALL performances. Day one started off with Neo Fresco & Fki 1st who got the party started.
image

Next Gryffin took the stage and as soon and he got into a groove Mother Nature  (this bitch!) decides to provide us with rain…And  not just a regular shower, a freak wind pushing down pour for about 20 mins. It got so bad that the shut shit down and told us to vacate the premises. Did we listen? HELL NO! We stayed and banded together like the music lovers we are. Some rushed the field with security chasing them. Eventually they gave up and so did the rain. Fully soaked we ran back to continue the party.
image

Next up was Alison Wonderland who was great. Then Tory Lanez who’s set a sat through because I needed to save my energy for the evenings main attractions. Dillon Fucking Francis open his set with the Pokémon theme song. I truly fall in love with him at that moment.
image

I’m pretty sure you could here us screaming “Pokémon” 3 block away. He continued to set fire to our asses track after track he played. Last but not least DIPLO!!! Of course he kept us dancing till the very last minute.

Day two started off with Boombox Cartel and next up was Big Wild. I enjoyed him tremendously. He was what I like to call the conductor of the Groove Train.
image

It’s like he takes you on a ride and you don’t wanna get off. He brought out the drum machine , a keyboard and even whistled on a track…To me that was hot! I appreciate the little things. Now Party Khan, Party Khan, PARTY KHAN!!! The link up of Party Favor and Valentino Khan was the best thing ever. I don’t think I danced so much in a short period of time it was amazing.
image

If could afford to go to every show they play at I would, it was that good. Slushii hit the stage next. I was my first time hearing him play and I will say I enjoyed what I heard. Making her way back into the music world after a bit of legal stuff was Ke$ha or what I like to call her Miss Thickness. She looked amazing. I mean expected nothing less but she put in a bit of weight and it went to all the right places.
image

While she performed I mostly stood there in awe of her legs. Her thighs made me jealous. After the beautiful Ke$ha was Boi-1da. Now to my knowledge he is one of Drakes producers and he started his set playing the 6God. I thought it was just going to be the Drake hour which no one would ever complain about but Drake actually appeared and performed.
image

When I say the crowd went wild, they went there and beyond when he hit the stage. He gave us the best surprise of the day. We all needed a bit of rest after it was all over. Zeds Dead put us right back on the dance floor or shall I say field. The closers of the night was Dj Snake. He had so much freaking energy. I think he would have keep playing til the next day if they let him but sadly they didn’t.
image

However when we thought it was all over and done he came back with a bit of an encore. I could tell he really loves his job.

As per usual check me social media stuff @in_attendance or Inattendance and ENJOY!!!

All Renaissance

This by far was one of the most glamorous event I have attended. The reboot/debut of  The Renaissance Hotel in NYC was beyond what  I expected. As you can see by the photo they had lots of beautiful lights. I personally have a thing for lights so I was in heaven.

20160603_113110

Not only were there amazing lights but there were 2 photo booths, an all night open bar and some bomb ass finger food being passed about by some very pretty people. I tried to take a  good picture of the corn but it almost fell and I needed to save it with my mouth.
image

The music duo The Knock who I ran into at another event *we’ve never met* played a dj set that got the crowd moving. It was so much going on I think everyone was happy with that but then they brought out the legend Wyclef Jean. He did his thing!!!! He sang his hits, play his guitar and piano, jumped off stage into the crowd, sang and jumped around with us,  DJayed and danced with a very cute elderly photographer (I felt it was passed her bedtime). Overall I had an AMAZEBALL time!

20160602_221516

*Gotta love his shit*

As per usual check the snap: Inattendance & the new Instagram @In_Attendance for entertainment before the main post. Enjoy
