Play Date

Courtesy of Playcrafting, New York City received it’s first full fledge video game convention Play NYC. *Yells* “Hell Yeah Man, Game On!!!” Unlike the many other convention NYC has, this is full dedicated to games, specifically indie games. I love indies games. Developers come up with some of the most creative/crazy games or turn something very simple we do in everyday life into an amazing thing. I remember Microsoft giving developers the opportunity to upload their games into their arcade section through Xbox without much hassle. Of course they had to follow a few guide line but the turn out was amazing. I remember one game was pretty much was sperm zooming its way pass/though obstacles to reach the glowing orb which in reality was an egg.20170819_133637.jpg No, there were no babies born in the game but the masking of just that act in game form was both hilarious and entertaining. Play NYC took over Terminal 5 which contained 3 floors of nothing but games. Even in what is normally the coat check area was VR stations. There was even one of the cutest set up and game in the nook of one of the stair cases. I would have never found it if it wasn’t for my friend * Thank Jason*.  “Brenda Lee Backer It’s Time To Clean Your Bedroom” created by Jenny Jiao Hsia is an insanely cute game about cleaning up Bredna’s room.tumblr_ou2zqkFImu1qbmc9no1_1280She likes to takes a bit of a different approach with gaming by making them relative to real everyday life. The concept for the game stems from a larger game she is working on called Consume Me. It started off as a prototype to be a mini game within Consume Me but Jenny decided to turn it into a full game just for Play NYC *Yay Exclusives!* . The goal of the game it to pick up all of the selected items which can range from teddy bears to dirty laundry and place them within their prospective location before time runs out. If you make it pass the time Bredna earns some allowance. Bredna.jpgMy goal when playing was to earn her $1.00. I made it all the way up to 84 cent but then got stopped by the dog. Jenny developed the game in roughly a month, creating all the artwork as well as making from scratch, a fully operated plushy controller. I look forward to seeing all she had to offer the gaming world. When you have a chance check out Jenny’s site  to get a glimpse of the making of the game and look for her at Fantastic Arcade where she will be debuting a fresh new game for the masses.

20170819_124325I gravitate to anything bright & colorful and that is exactly Neon Wasteland. Influenced by japanese cyberpunk, Neon Wasteland is a3D futuristic racer game developed by Rob Shields.  He drew reference from animes such as Akria, Neo Tokyo, Bubblegum Tokyo and more, to infused his game with a glam punk feel. He started with making the characters which turned out to be two groups of kid who are rival gangs: The Gutter Punks and The Pixel Kids. His art style is captivating.20170822_071930 Full neon cities are your back drop as you race through 8 worlds, with 8 different beautifully designed characters, while dodging and speeding pass obstacles that stand in your way. I was so entertain by the artwork that I purchased the combo pack before actually playing the game. Once I did play the game I was fully sucked in. 20170822_072022.jpgA cool thing that Rob did was created a comic that is linked directly to the game. When completed it will be a 500 page comic. For each volume of the comic released, a new world for the game will be released as well. I’m really excited about this. 20170819_121756.jpgAs I walked around I came to a group of people at a table. Being the nosey human that I am, weaseled my way in and  I stumbled upon The Ultimate Clap Back Game.  Now for those who don’t know what a clap back is, here’s a simple definition: To respond to an insult or criticism, sometimes in a vengeful manner. The Ultimate Clap Back Game is the brain child of MaryMartha E. Ford-Dieng who began creating the game after someone at an establishment tried her patience. We’ve all been tried at some point by someone so this game is relatable and funny as hell.  The goal of the game is to win 5 hands by responding to an insult/criticism with the best clap back response you have in you hand. If the clap back is strong you win the handDSC_5504. If the clap back is weak you lose and on the next. By chance if you or others disagree cant decide you get to vote. Now when I began to play I was stop. Why? Because you can just read the card like a regular card. You got to put some feeling behind it. You got to make the insult or clap back sting. A good clap back will make you turn your face up with the expression of ” OH HELL NAH!” OR ” OH NO THEY DIDN’T”. MaryMartha definitely achieved it with this game! Sadly I didn’t get a chance to speak with her but her colleague informed me that she wrote every single clap back & insult card for the game. There are a total of 550 card for the game. If that’s not dedication I don’t know what is.  If you need a fun new game for game night The Ultimate Clap Back is surely a must. You can purchase the game HERE. May your clap backs be with you.

As per usual keep and eye on Istagram @in_attedance  & Snap Chat Inattendance! Enjoy

Come On In

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that there is not an open door for you in New York City because they’re always is.Whether it’s a restaurant, clothing store or a bar, the door is always open especially with galleries. Coming upon Highland Park walking past a building full of windows with the door wide open was the Allouche Gallery. What caught my eye was a huge sculpture by Faile standing in the window *it kind of reminded me of Alison in Wonderland with a skateboard* and I thought to myself how could I not going in.

There were so many cool and thought provoking pieces I couldn’t help but take pictures of almost everything. So if by chance you ever come up on a building with a cool peace of anything in the window is the door open walk on in. I shall continue to welcome this open door policy by  walking into any door that’s open. Hopefully I’ll end up in a celebrities apartment LMAO!!!!

So if you have some free time stop Allouche Gallery their door is open til 7pm!

Almost 29 Rooms

.About 5 hours….that’s how long we: me and the hundreds of ppl waited to get into Refinery 29’s 29Rooms. 29Rooms is an art & fashion fun house made up with celebrity collaborations steaming from topics of beauty, music, the environment, etc; with each room carrying a different theme. The doors opened at 11am and I got there at 12. I already knew I was going to wait about 2 hour to get it but that was a mental understatement. The line wrapped around the building in a loop and just like every pop-up experience I kept telling myself with the sun beating down on body, the motto: YOLO! Literally about 30 mins from the entrance I was giving a scratch card to hopefully skip the line. Sure enough, blessed from the heavens and foot gods below it was the winning card. Extremely excited I gather the people around me who I chatted with for the 5 hours to skip the line and race inside….”WE MADE IT!!!!” We all screamed & took celebratory pics but once we entered I caught a glimpse of something as I  stared into the main hall…MORE FUCKING LINES!!! dsc_47941

To be honest it wasn’t that bad but it’s just the freaking principal!!!  Now the main question of this entire experience: Was it worth it?
Yes: because I met some really cool people, 29Rooms was definitely something to be seen and I can say I went & never have to go again & No: because after all of it I didn’t get to see all 29 rooms because of more fucking lines and the memory magically got misplaced after  that so I could post when I wanted  but I found it. So here are the rooms I made it to…Enjoy!!!
