.About 5 hours….that’s how long we: me and the hundreds of ppl waited to get into Refinery 29’s 29Rooms. 29Rooms is an art & fashion fun house made up with celebrity collaborations steaming from topics of beauty, music, the environment, etc; with each room carrying a different theme. The doors opened at 11am and I got there at 12. I already knew I was going to wait about 2 hour to get it but that was a mental understatement. The line wrapped around the building in a loop and just like every pop-up experience I kept telling myself with the sun beating down on body, the motto: YOLO! Literally about 30 mins from the entrance I was giving a scratch card to hopefully skip the line. Sure enough, blessed from the heavens and foot gods below it was the winning card. Extremely excited I gather the people around me who I chatted with for the 5 hours to skip the line and race inside….”WE MADE IT!!!!” We all screamed & took celebratory pics but once we entered I caught a glimpse of something as I stared into the main hall…MORE FUCKING LINES!!!
To be honest it wasn’t that bad but it’s just the freaking principal!!! Now the main question of this entire experience: Was it worth it?
Yes: because I met some really cool people, 29Rooms was definitely something to be seen and I can say I went & never have to go again & No: because after all of it I didn’t get to see all 29 rooms because of more fucking lines and the memory magically got misplaced after that so I could post when I wanted but I found it. So here are the rooms I made it to…Enjoy!!!
Going back to Afropunk with a new frame of mind made me enjoy it way more than I did the day before. I embraced all that it had to offer. I stood for a second watching the people but this time not in aww but happy that I got the chance to witness it all. Happy at seeing all the diversity of people. Happy to know that everyone was welcomed with know questions asked.Still slightly in aww by the people and their way of dress, with camera in hand I forced myself to pay attention to the music. Before taking in the first performance of the day there was a dance pretty. As the music played the people came. What started as a small group quickly became half of the parks field being taking up by moving bodies. Dances circles formed.People cheering on strangers and friends who stepped in the center to show their moves. It was all such a beautiful thing Now on the the MUSIC! Armed with camera in hand my first performance of the day was Angel Haze. She got BARS!!! It was my first time seeing her perform and I glad I got the chance wit witness her in action. After checking out the tricycle races again I made my way to the gold stage. Somehow the day before I didn’t know it existed but I decided to stay there for the rest of the day and I was glad I did. The next artist I caught was Gallant.HE SANG HIS ASS OFF!!! I was giving me bits of 90s r&b and Prince. Anyone who gives you bits of Prince in their on original way is a keeper. I was definitely googling him the next day for more. Once his performance was done I slowly squeezed my way towards the front and Dj Esta began playing. Boy Oh Boy!!! If there could have been a roof that he could hypothetically tear off, he did the damn thing. Not one soul near the gold stage wasn’t dancing. Playing a mixture of 90s classics, trap remixes and all thing in between….He was unstoppable. Next up was my newly discovered fav Kelela. She gave so much soul. The group of ladies I was standing next to me knew every word the pretty much every song she sang. She has so many levels to her voice it was amazing. Her song “Send Me Out” was stuck in head *in a good way* even after I listened to it. The nights main attraction for me was The Internet. We were all sooooooo excited to see them live. The crowd swayed together and sang together. Tyler the Creator was in the cut singing along enjoy himself too .We didn’t want it to end, so much so that the crowd started to scream Encore!
Sadly it didn’t happen but we can always try right.

Happy Easter!!! or at least it was lol I ventured onto the streets to discover the amazing Easter Parade (very loose with the parade word). It was basically the shutting down of 49st to 57st on with 5th Ave to let the beauty of colorful, elegant, creative and extravagantly made hats. There were hundreds of people out dressed in their Sundays best walking in either direction taking loads pictures and gazing at this years hat master pieces. I will say it was definitely worth forcefully waking myself up outta my drunken stupor to attend. I even want to show my creative skills and make my own hat to parade with down the streets for next year.Wish me with that luck guys. You can find some more awesome creations HERE .

Pretty itty bitty little thing called butterflies where the main inspiration of this seasons collection by Polly Ho of Loom Loop. Butterflies printed everything from maxi dresses to leggings and even trench coats.I felt the head piece and eye glasses worn added an extra bit of edge to it.I thought this collection was very visually stimulating. Enjoy!
Yes I Am Late…But it’s Fashion Week somewhere in the world.
I call it pure SEXY!!! There’s something about black leather that’s just sexy period. Yohanix by Tae-keun Kim is a collection comprised of all sorts of lovely goodies. I loved, loved, LOVED the leather skirts: particularly this little number right below.
I think zippers are the new IT add-on to clothing because there was no shortage of them here. Zipper placement was key from turning a very beautiful detailed pencil skirt for maybe the work place into a super sexy skirt exposing as much thigh meat as you personally could handle for a night out on the town. There were so many pieces that I would totally snatch like the leather moto jacket with fur sleeves, a black textured trench coat w/ belt and especially the black socks with gold pom poms. I could go on & on but I will let the pictures to the talking. Enjoy!!!
It’s a Ning Thing.
I like thing that express some sort of mood and that what Kenneth Ning did for me. His collection reminded me of my past inner goth moment but with a much more fashionable approach. The coats and jackets were my favorites. The detailing with the big zippers and sliver holes gave it that end.Another winning piece was a stand alone two piece suit posted dead front and center.

Bring in all the boys!!! Dexter Dexter Dexter was full of uniqueness. The mens collection came off to me as simple but very crisp cut, very neat, and very thoughtful. His tops consisted of dress shirt, sweaters, and long sleeve crew neck shirts with accents such as vest, scarfs and man bags. Dexter’s bottoms highlighted his top with someone models wear pants, some wearing just underwear and some wearing the noteworthy and what I call : The Man Skirt. Now I usually consider a kilt as a mans “skirt” and my insides normally scream “REAL MEN WEAR KILTS!!!” when seeing one worn. I like them…I really really like them.
