I am a human of pure nostalgia. I love anything that takes me back/reminds me of great memories. I never want to let things go. Music has that effect to take me back very quickly to a happier time or situation. One of New Yorks most iconic rights of passage for any 19 or older wanting to get a taste of night life has officially closed its doors. The great Webster Hall is now closed for renovations. It is will be closed until sometime in November 2017 and will reopen its doors with new owners and management but it will never be the same. I feel like I grew up there. Webster hall provided me with many experiences & memories I will never forget. There was the first *and last* time I got on stage for amateur strip night for my 21st birthday. Did I when? No but my cousin did lol. Gotta like a nice set of double Ds on a pretty girl. $450 in the pocket just for a flash. I saw the one and only Corrine Bailey Rae, after trying to see her for 10 years since she came out. I got taken back to my high school music roots with a closing show of a Good Charlotte concert. I won tickets to the Downtown Festival were I was introduced to one of the waviest bands Vactioner. Webster gave many young woman and myself their first spin on stripper poles. They were just for show but fun as hell. I introduced many of my friends to the the club for only kind of night life you can experience in NYC. One night we randomly complimented a lovely lady who happened who be celebrating officially be coming a doctor and was offered to hang out and drink with her. Another night we danced with beautiful men in drag till the shut the club down. One night we met a group of guys who invited us to go to Ihop. The journey getting there was the most hilarious thing in the world. Im still not sure how we fit 8 grown ass drunken adults in that small 4 door car. Another time after work we decided we didn’t wanna go home so we headed to Webster for Ladies Night. One of my friends for got there ID at work so we felt the plan of the night failed. Cleverly all we needed was a marker to save the day. We squeeze her behind the fence into the smoking section outside, marked her hand up identical to everyone else then chatted up a few people standing there just to make it look good. We stood there staring at the entrance as she walked up in hopes that the bouncer didnt know what just happened. She flash her marked up hand and walked in with no problem. The adrenaline rush of knowing we pulled off sneaking someone in to Webster Hall just made the night even more exciting. I found out both of my friends were pregnant at Webster lol. It was two separate occasions but cool none the less. Whenever one of my friend attended ladies night she alway got licked by someone. Till this day we still never understood it but without fail someone licked her lmao. As I got older my trips to Webster Hall for parties decreased drastically. I went there for more concerts but still randomly every few years making an appearance for a party. So the on their final night I decided to go shake a tail feather for good time sake. It was exactly what I remember. As it was ladies night there were tons of girls with guys to follow, music blasting on every floor, squads taking pictures to save that lasting moment. To my pleasant surprise a few dancers from when I was a teen, showed up & showed out for the last night. A guy I remember seeing partying at Webster on many occasions now worked as security and the stage on the entrance floor no longer had the infamous poles but was still filled with people. I will never forget those moment I spent there (especially because there a bunch of pics and video on a hard drive somewhere in my house) at Webster Hall. I can only hope with all thats new coming to the venu that it will have the same impact that it has provided for decades before.
My journey to foreign territory aka the Bronx in search of The Greatest Day Ever and I shall say it definitely lived up to its name. DAY 1: To my surprise it really that bad of a travel to get to the festival. Although it took 2 hours it was totally worth it. Once though the gates you were greeted with the site of carival rides, beautiful people and bass thumping music. The line up consisted of Tropkillaz, Westside Gunn & Conway the Machine, They. , Dj Esco, Kyle, Anna Lunoe, Mr. Carmack, Bro Safari and Dillion Francis. I miss half of Tropkillaz set because of travel but was I did catch was pretty good. Westside Gunn & Conway the Machine gave us some hip hop. They. were awesome. Dante & Drew’s performance was just as hype as their videos. DJ Esco had the crowded turned ALL THR WAY UP! There was not one body that wasnt moving during his set. By this time I made my way up close to the front for Kyle. He never disappoints. He and Super Duper Brick were so energetic. They busted out some dance moves from the 90’s and giving nothing but Super Duper show. Next up was Anna Loune. Droves of people began to pour in as they set up for her set. I had never heard her play before and she was beyond everything I expected. Words truly can’t described how in Aww I was of her and on top of giving the crowd 1000% she did it 7 months pregnant. That was just the cherry on top of the sundae for me. After the amazing Anna was done I went to some grub. With the amount of jumping around I was doing I needed to refuel. Snack of choice: Loaded Tots *drools*. With the line being so long and how slow I was eating *savoring every piece of bacon* by the time I got back inside Bro Safari was providing the tunes. Whoever is sidekick was that was dancing on stage for him was hilarious. They definitely got the crowd up and on their feet in preparation for one of my new faves Dillion Francis. I immediately fall in luv with him one year ago when he opened his set playing the Pokémon theme song * he knows his was to a girls heart*. Of course he was blessed us with greatness and gave the crowd a lil 00s throw back tunes. It truly was great way to end the night. DAY 2: I made the trek back to the BX thinking I was late because i got there at 4:15pm and I was just a little bit but it started at 4pm. The line up consisted of: Fight Club, Tunji Ige, Tokimonsta, Green Velvet, Gold Link, The Internet, Post Malone, What So Not and the main attraction Diplo. I caught was was left of Fight Clubs set then decided I would get on some of the rides. Ya gotta take full advantage of all the was given. There was the calm Ferris Wheel, the Zipper which would be recommended to ride on a empty stomach, Himalaya and Alien Invasion. When I was done Tokimonsta was starting to play. She is one of those artist I like to put on my Groove Train list. She takes ya on a ride. Nothing too hard but nothing soft or mellow but pure groovy baby. Green Velevt kinda put you in a trance. So much so that a spin the bottle dance circle started. If the top points to you, ya get in the circle in show your moves. When he stopped playing we all looked up in confusion like “Damn that was it? Why he stop?”. Gold Link made me become a fan on the spot. His vibe, his clothing of choice, and his lyric pulled me in. It was one of those moments when I thought “Damnit! I should have Googled him before so I knew the words to his songs”. I felt so left out with everyone singing along but trust I’ll know them for next time. I was super hype when The Internet took the stage. The group recently all did solo project and I hoped they’d sing a song from those albums and they sure did. Both Syd & Steve Lacey performanced songs off their project and it made me so happy. After they finished I went to get some food and sit for a bit so I missed Post Malones performance. I needed that refresher because What So Not got the wharehouse bumping. I danced so much I almost couldn’t catch my breath. They were awesome. Glady right after What So Not finished, there was no time wasted getting Dilpo to the stage. He never lets ya down. My shirt was fully socked with sweat by the time he was done. Luckily I brought another one for back up. If this was the replace or a hold over for Mad Decent Block Party, I ain’t mad at it. I defiantly had a great time even thought it was so far I’d travel back for another round of The Greatest Day Ever.
As per usual check my social media stuff on IG @In_Attendance & on the Snap: Inattendance and ENJOY!!!
Just standing in the area to get in you can tell its just a different vibe. A different vibe from the scenery and two different vibes from the people. The first vibe was my initial thought which was cool and wavy. I like that vibe. Its just the kinda vibe i needed in my life seeing how i survived a major cold 2 days before. The other vibe was irritation, confusion and slightly pissed *because of the heat* . That second vibe came from the festival starting late. 1 hour and 45 minutes late to be exact! Granted it rained the night before so that would be the reason why…but festival goers dont care about that man. They just wanna get the hell in. Once we were let in, we wandered. We wandered around because there was no music playing. They continued with the original schedule which was the Big Quite Meditation. I get that they wanted to stay with the schedule but it was already a hour and change late opening … Just Get Right To The Music!!! *Forgive me for I was grouchy by now* But shout out to Essentia Water! They keep me hydrated for free all day and the behind the booth was major eye candy. By now all stages are playing music and everything is going as planned. I hung out in the beach area for a bit with Kitsuné present La Plage listening to the tunes and soaking up some much needed sun but the really place to be during the was the Solaar Stage. I, of course made my was over to it which was a geometric shaped dome with a gigantic disco ball hanging from the center. Just that alone would get your attention but the music pulled you in all the way. There wasn’t a time it wasn’t packed in & outside of the dome. I eventually went on the hunt for food and found Loosie Rouge. I honestly didnt realize how much i missed grilled corn on the cob til i had theirs. In between dancing my way back and forth between stages i got a chance to check out a few performances such as the Tops, Abra and Connan Mockasin. As I scooted my was to the front of the stage to wait for Kelela to perform Dj Larry Heard took the stage and he was just what I needed. He was joined by Mister White who voice was just melodic. The music they played felt like an awakening; just free and magical. They had everyone dancing. People came from backstage to dance on the side stage to witness all the greatness that was happening. By now im hype. I danced through their whole entire set and im ready for Kelela to take the stage. She was just as awesome as I remember from the first I seen her perform. This time I knew the words to the songs unlike the last time. We even got to hear her new single from her upcoming album so we got a real treat. Unfortunately i didnt stay fot Vic Mensa because from my stage hopping I lost my IPhone and had to go find it. Once I eventually got it back I headed home. Overall the Full Moon Festival waa nice. I was a very very laid back fest which was something i wasn’t expecting. I may return next year depending on who the performers are.
Until then I got 2 festivals left of the summer so stay tuned and as per usual check out the Instagram @in_attendance & Snapchat In attendance for all the in real time fun!
It took my a while to figure out what to say about thailand and not be a super tourist but in all honesty thats exactly what I was. Coming from one city to go to another was a nice eye opener and gave me a great appreciation for where I just visited and where I live. First of all their transit system is awesome! The BTS and MRT run flawlessly, they are on time and clean as hell. All signs in each station are printed boldy with arrows pointing in the direction you want to go. This made travel about the city extremely easy depending where I wanted to go. Their trains shut down around 12am and coming from NYC were the transit system runs 24 hour thats the only downside I saw. The food is amazing! Sadly I wish I ate way more food than I did but I was so excited to just be there I forget to eat a few times. I know few people who are a little touchy about eating street but have no fear thats what malls are for. Yeah I spent a decent about of time in malls window shopping but if your a person who isnt to keen on street food Thailand has the most impressive food courts I have seen to date. So many options and styles of food, you’ll want to walk around and get a bit of everything. The street food scene comes more alive at night so thats when I decide to indulge. Of course I got some Pad Thai and this *see pic* tasty desert banana thingy well as boat noodle which were delicious. At some point I got a craving for fried chicken and surely enough there was a vendor making fresh fried chicken two blocks away from my hotel. I thought to myself “God is good”. It was some of the best I had in a very long time. Just like the street food scene pretty much very thing else began to come alive at night. While there I attended a Couch Surfing Meetup and hung out with some cool locals and fellow travelers. From there a group of us headed to Kaosan Road. Ive seen videos about its but way better in person. A whole entire block with bars to the left and right blasting music with hunreds of people dancing in the street and bar hopping along the way. I got one of those buckets everyone talks about and was a bit disappointed that is wasnt as strong as imagined. I could have drank a whole one by myself and been absolutely fine. Upon my last night in Thailand I decided to grab a beer at an outside bar. While there I chatted a bit with the bartender, a few very entertaining lady boys and a fellow staying in Thailand for school from Africa. We all talked, craked jokes and just chilled there till it was closing time. I mentioned I hadn’t been to any clubs or got the full experience of the night life there, he decided to take me to a club. Sadly they were all closing but he knew of a lounge they stayed open pretty much till the morning. While walking he gave me the scoop on the area and let go of some shocking information. Well not really shocking but a bit surprising. He told me that there were a lot of women of color who come to Thailand to do prostitution *my mouth immediately drops*. I think to myself isn’t this true or maybe someone told him this story too but low and be I witness it with my own eyes. On our way to the lounge the was a man and a woman who I thought was a couple were walking in front of us. He was feeling all over her and talking in ear. Im guessing she said a too high of a price to him because seconds later he was pushing her way and she keep trying to get him back. Conveniently there was a group of 3 girl walking across the street in our direction. Once they made it to the block, he squeezed right between two of them wrapped his arms around their waist and they all proceeded to walk with each other. He grabbed one of their asses whispered in her ear and no sooner then she responded they were walking off by themselves in the opposite direction leaving the other two girl on there own, *Drops Mic*. Now if that wasn’t the quickest I told you so I don’t know what it is. Before leaving the states I was extremely hype about getting Thai massage but not only did I get that but cute lil love affair. Okay I’m being way to dramatic so ill say it was a cute lil LUST situation. So before receiving my massage *thankfully the shop was right next to my hotel* the beautiful people who worked there pretty much hung outside attracking customers for business. I saw them everyday upon entering/leaving the hotel so we’d always said Hello to each other. When I finally decided to get my massage the guy who I thought was the cutest of them all stepped forward to rub me down. I was dumb hype on the inside because I got to stare at him for an hour and some change. We exchange what little dialect we could while just smiling at each other like teenagers. It was all so adorable. We bonded over having tattoos. So of course nothing actually happened passed the actual massage beside me really feeling up his arms when told to. Yeah he knew what I was doing and we laughed after. He also gave my butt a nice rub and squeeze. Yes, he asked first *who doesn’t love a butt rub* and we both know what he was doing because upon doing the first squeeze I looked back at him and he said “Nice” with a kool aid smile. After the massage I went back to my room and just melted to sleep. Melting to sleep is a thing cause I said so. LOL!As the days went by everytime we saw each other he course he asked me if I would like another massage and I declined but we always gave each other lusty eyes and smiles like we had a secert no one knew about. On my last day coming back to the hotel to get my things he ask one last time did I want a massage and when I mentioned I was going home, his face dropped. I feel like he thought I was joking until a cab pull into the driveway. As the door man grabbed my bags there he stood just watching…Looking at me in the distance. And there I stood looking back. We literally stood there and stared at each other until everything and one was tucked away in the the car. No waving good bye, just our eyes watching each other till I got into the cab…..
So that was my time Thailand. I have intentions on going back within the next 2 years but for now I get to live in the memories and pictures of that time.
Maybe I’m just way to calm, accepting, relaxed or open minded. I try to find the positive in mostly everything, even 20 hour air plane flights. When I mentioned my journey to the land of smiles the first question I got was “How long is the flight?” And after replying “A Day” (it was really 20 hours but that was way to many syllables to keep repeating) the reactions were “Oh no I can’t do that, that’s way to long to be in one spot, why you going so far, and blah blah blah”. I look at any flight especially a long flight as a blessing. Why might you ask???? Because your one and only obligation to the world is to stay in your seat. You have nothing else in world to do. You dont have to worry about work, school, home or anything really. You dont even have to think if you dont want to. You are provided food, beverages and even alcohol on some flights. You may not like it but hey you can’t it wasnt offered. I faithfully bring a few of my own snacks from home for those just in case moments if the food is totally inedible. Many airlines also provide entertainment. My flight leaving the US had better options than my returning flight. Departing I was able to play a language game that helped my brush up on my newly learned Thai words. I played poker as well. If im correct it was an in-flight battle to which I had the pleasure of dominating. I started with $1000, won with $62,385, I took everyones money and Im proud of it lol. There were also a variety of movies and TV shows to watch. This particular flight didn’t carry the newest releases but had a solid amount of choices. I watch xXx : Return of Xander Cage and a 3 episode special of African wild life. Over all my beyond favor part about flying especially on a long flight is sleeping. You get to sleep for however your flight is fully uninterrupted * unless someone has to pee* . I normally aim for the window seat not only for the sites but because no one has to climb over you for anything. I caught up on all the sleep I missed, wish i had, and needed. So enjoy your next long haul flight. Think of it as time to get you internal battery recharged. Catch up on all the sleep you messed. Beat everyone in your cabin in a poker game. Watch some new and entertaining movies or just chat with the person next to you. Positive thoughts people, positive thoughts!!!
Beside the fact that 2016 kinda sucked in the sense of politics and the death of many great celebraties, my personal life was freaking awesome. So I figured I’d start the New Year with my last awesome adventure….
I ventured into foreign territory *New Jersey* for Exxxotica 2016. My inner pervert has been so suppressed for a bit so I was extremely excited to go. Walking in I had no clue what to expect and the first thing I saw was ass.
Cheeks & Boobs Everywhere!!!! Web cam girls were the first thing you saw.
Upon going futher into the rabbit whole you seen porn stars to the left and right, booths with with sex toys and lots of people. Hundreds of people both man and woman came out to see their virtual fornication lovers.
I even noticed a few faces I’ve seen in my home town and a coworker lol. Sadly because I only know of porn my friends share with me, I don’t really know any porn star but there were some faces I recognized from what was shared. One of my hightlight was the dungon. There was suspension, whips, chains, feathers, spin wheels and my new favorite flogging.
I was a little shy at first but reading Fifty Shades of Grey mad me very curious. I enjoy it very much. I wanted to donit again but the line was to long *sad face*. There was also a panels, sex workshops, a sexy fashion show, BBW twerk contest and some other random goodies.
I really had a great time and everyone who watched my snapchat have a very good time too. Oh and there was a awesome gift bag by Bad Dragon that have 3 cute and tiny small dragon shaped penises. I honestly wished they were life size but I digress…
I will definitely be returning next year. After attending Exxxotica I have more of an appropriations for porn stars. With just the naked eye all we see is women (and men)
who have lots of sex for our entertainment. The main difference between us and them* in my eyes* is that we know who they slept with.
They work out hard as hell sexually and physically to keep in shape. They run businesses, take care of loved ones, and everything else the makes them human. So what if there job is different from the typical 9 to 5, doesn’t mean they don’t need love.
And with that said enjoy the pics and as usual check out the snapchat :In_attendance and the instagram
Kotaku and io9 held their first Cosplay Ball in New York presented by Drangon Ball Xenoverse 2. I was uber excited to go but sadly lacked in cosplay get up because I am such a procrastinator. But have no fear! My Harry Potter jumper seriously can in handy and I went as Harmonie. Held at Studio 17 there was music by Dj Cutman, a photobooth, food, drinks and even a 3D printing station.I really had a great time. I met some really cool people, seen cool cosplay and awesome performance by the Fantastic Plastics. There was even a cosplay contest that I sadly missed because I was filling my face with cupcakes and cookies but congrats to the winners! Hopefully they have another one next year because I will definitely be there.
Click HERE to see some photos from the photobooth. Enjoy!!!
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that there is not an open door for you in New York City because they’re always is.Whether it’s a restaurant, clothing store or a bar, the door is always open especially with galleries. Coming upon Highland Park walking past a building full of windows with the door wide open was the Allouche Gallery. What caught my eye was a huge sculpture by Faile standing in the window *it kind of reminded me of Alison in Wonderland with a skateboard* and I thought to myself how could I not going in.
There were so many cool and thought provoking pieces I couldn’t help but take pictures of almost everything. So if by chance you ever come up on a building with a cool peace of anything in the window is the door open walk on in. I shall continue to welcome this open door policy by walking into any door that’s open. Hopefully I’ll end up in a celebrities apartment LMAO!!!!
So if you have some free time stop Allouche Gallery their door is open til 7pm!
.About 5 hours….that’s how long we: me and the hundreds of ppl waited to get into Refinery 29’s 29Rooms. 29Rooms is an art & fashion fun house made up with celebrity collaborations steaming from topics of beauty, music, the environment, etc; with each room carrying a different theme. The doors opened at 11am and I got there at 12. I already knew I was going to wait about 2 hour to get it but that was a mental understatement. The line wrapped around the building in a loop and just like every pop-up experience I kept telling myself with the sun beating down on body, the motto: YOLO! Literally about 30 mins from the entrance I was giving a scratch card to hopefully skip the line. Sure enough, blessed from the heavens and foot gods below it was the winning card. Extremely excited I gather the people around me who I chatted with for the 5 hours to skip the line and race inside….”WE MADE IT!!!!” We all screamed & took celebratory pics but once we entered I caught a glimpse of something as I stared into the main hall…MORE FUCKING LINES!!!
To be honest it wasn’t that bad but it’s just the freaking principal!!! Now the main question of this entire experience: Was it worth it?
Yes: because I met some really cool people, 29Rooms was definitely something to be seen and I can say I went & never have to go again & No: because after all of it I didn’t get to see all 29 rooms because of more fucking lines and the memory magically got misplaced after that so I could post when I wanted but I found it. So here are the rooms I made it to…Enjoy!!!
Pop Up anythings are awesome but even more so when it involves icecream. Visiting New York is the pop up Museum of Icecream. This was on of the hardest to get a ticket too. When I first found about it and checked the site to get a ticket they weren’t for sale yet. So I checked the week it was supposed to open and it was SOLD OUT!!! Everyday, everytime for the whole summer. Gladly I signed up for the news letter so when they extended their stay jumped at the chance. In the process the damn website crashed on me like 8 times before I was able to snatch my ticket up. It was such a cute & tasty little museum. Right upon entering they give you icecream. Just a few steps away, you receive what I call a “sugar bubble” filled with helium. You can suck in all the helium for the funny voice and eat the collapsed bubble if you want. They actually had fun facts and information about icecream, high headed from inhaling the helium I took pictures of it to read later. One of the coolest things there was the pool full of sprinkles. Well not real sprinkles (that would have been unsanitary) but a pool full of soft color plastic that looked like the real thing. It was really fun to play in and you kind of sunk into it. Once out of the pool you were giving a miracle berry tablet that when eaten turns all sour foods sweet. They gave use a lemon with our icecream to test it out and if definitely didn’t disappoint.
As per usual stay tuned to the IG @in_attendance & SC: inattendance Enjoy!!!!
