Play Date

Courtesy of Playcrafting, New York City received it’s first full fledge video game convention Play NYC. *Yells* “Hell Yeah Man, Game On!!!” Unlike the many other convention NYC has, this is full dedicated to games, specifically indie games. I love indies games. Developers come up with some of the most creative/crazy games or turn something very simple we do in everyday life into an amazing thing. I remember Microsoft giving developers the opportunity to upload their games into their arcade section through Xbox without much hassle. Of course they had to follow a few guide line but the turn out was amazing. I remember one game was pretty much was sperm zooming its way pass/though obstacles to reach the glowing orb which in reality was an egg.20170819_133637.jpg No, there were no babies born in the game but the masking of just that act in game form was both hilarious and entertaining. Play NYC took over Terminal 5 which contained 3 floors of nothing but games. Even in what is normally the coat check area was VR stations. There was even one of the cutest set up and game in the nook of one of the stair cases. I would have never found it if it wasn’t for my friend * Thank Jason*.  “Brenda Lee Backer It’s Time To Clean Your Bedroom” created by Jenny Jiao Hsia is an insanely cute game about cleaning up Bredna’s room.tumblr_ou2zqkFImu1qbmc9no1_1280She likes to takes a bit of a different approach with gaming by making them relative to real everyday life. The concept for the game stems from a larger game she is working on called Consume Me. It started off as a prototype to be a mini game within Consume Me but Jenny decided to turn it into a full game just for Play NYC *Yay Exclusives!* . The goal of the game it to pick up all of the selected items which can range from teddy bears to dirty laundry and place them within their prospective location before time runs out. If you make it pass the time Bredna earns some allowance. Bredna.jpgMy goal when playing was to earn her $1.00. I made it all the way up to 84 cent but then got stopped by the dog. Jenny developed the game in roughly a month, creating all the artwork as well as making from scratch, a fully operated plushy controller. I look forward to seeing all she had to offer the gaming world. When you have a chance check out Jenny’s site  to get a glimpse of the making of the game and look for her at Fantastic Arcade where she will be debuting a fresh new game for the masses.

20170819_124325I gravitate to anything bright & colorful and that is exactly Neon Wasteland. Influenced by japanese cyberpunk, Neon Wasteland is a3D futuristic racer game developed by Rob Shields.  He drew reference from animes such as Akria, Neo Tokyo, Bubblegum Tokyo and more, to infused his game with a glam punk feel. He started with making the characters which turned out to be two groups of kid who are rival gangs: The Gutter Punks and The Pixel Kids. His art style is captivating.20170822_071930 Full neon cities are your back drop as you race through 8 worlds, with 8 different beautifully designed characters, while dodging and speeding pass obstacles that stand in your way. I was so entertain by the artwork that I purchased the combo pack before actually playing the game. Once I did play the game I was fully sucked in. 20170822_072022.jpgA cool thing that Rob did was created a comic that is linked directly to the game. When completed it will be a 500 page comic. For each volume of the comic released, a new world for the game will be released as well. I’m really excited about this. For more visuals and game check out Neonwastelandgame.com or to become a patron of the Neon Wasteland click HERE.

20170819_121756.jpgAs I walked around I came to a group of people at a table. Being the nosey human that I am, weaseled my way in and  I stumbled upon The Ultimate Clap Back Game.  Now for those who don’t know what a clap back is, here’s a simple definition: To respond to an insult or criticism, sometimes in a vengeful manner. The Ultimate Clap Back Game is the brain child of MaryMartha E. Ford-Dieng who began creating the game after someone at an establishment tried her patience. We’ve all been tried at some point by someone so this game is relatable and funny as hell.  The goal of the game is to win 5 hands by responding to an insult/criticism with the best clap back response you have in you hand. If the clap back is strong you win the handDSC_5504. If the clap back is weak you lose and on the next. By chance if you or others disagree cant decide you get to vote. Now when I began to play I was stop. Why? Because you can just read the card like a regular card. You got to put some feeling behind it. You got to make the insult or clap back sting. A good clap back will make you turn your face up with the expression of ” OH HELL NAH!” OR ” OH NO THEY DIDN’T”. MaryMartha definitely achieved it with this game! Sadly I didn’t get a chance to speak with her but her colleague informed me that she wrote every single clap back & insult card for the game. There are a total of 550 card for the game. If that’s not dedication I don’t know what is.  If you need a fun new game for game night The Ultimate Clap Back is surely a must. You can purchase the game HERE. May your clap backs be with you.

As per usual keep and eye on Istagram @in_attedance  & Snap Chat Inattendance! Enjoy

Sweet Home North Carolina

I finally made it! My friend of more than 11 years moved to the south in 2005 and I finally made it down there to see her this year. Yeah I’m late as hell but better late then never right??? We did the normal girly stuff like shopping, food and going out but she made me uber excited when she mentioned Carowinds.

image

I used to live down there so the name was familiar but I had no clue what it was like now because when I was there it was early 90’s. All I knew was it was an amusement park but WOW! MY how things have changed. It was awesome!!!

image

Over 8 roller coasters, random dinosaurs scattered throughout, high flying rides and great food. The park had 2 interactive ride but the one I was super hype about was Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 3Z.

image

We pretty much had to kill zombies or plants depending on what side you were on. Being the light gamer that I am I placed in the top 10 and my best friend placed top 3.

image

Coaster after coaster I got on and it was all fun until I got on the Caroline Cyclone. That was one of the worst coasters I’ve been on since the Scream Machine at Six Flags. TERRIBLE, JUST SO ABUSIVE!!! But that didn’t stop me. My grand finale of the day was conquering the Fury 325. According to the park it is the fastest, tallest Gig coaster in the world. *Go Google Gig Coaster, I had too* It was everything I thought it was…Tall as hell!

image

Now it’s just naturally scary going up extremely high but looking down as you fall 325 ft at the speed of more than 50 miles per hour will make you want to piss yourself. I bravely opened my eyes to witness the fall as I  scream “Oh Shit”. After that everything was a piece of cake knowing I didn’t die. Once I landed back on solid ground a yelled to my friend “I survived” and then we ate funnel cake.

As per usual check the Snapchat & IG for the real time fun. Enjoy!!!

Playstation Experience 2015

Games, games, & more games!!! This was my first PSX (this is only their second one) and it was great. Tons of people, stickers, buttons, camera and of course PS4s. The much anticipated PlayStation VR was on show with many demos on hand. I was able to get my hands on a VR demo called Job Simulator which just mimic the daily operations at a job like making coffee, throwing sugar, and ripping paper ya know the normal. It was pretty fun having the option to look around and grab thing while actually seeing your hands. The crowds roared with excitement for the remakes of Final Fantasy 7 which looked AMAZING, with new combat styles & weapons. Ratchet & Clank will also be getting a remake which will include new boss battles, weapons, as well as a movies too.

The Street Fighter 5 special character was finally revealed who’s name is Fang. Yakuza (the game I never played but love) will have a part 5 and will be coming to PS3 & Yakuza Zero will be coming to the PS4. Sadly many games featured at PSX won’t be released till next year but luckily attendees get access to the betas of many of the games such as Kill Strain *loved it*, Dead Star, World of Tanks *Awesome*, Fat Princess and much more. YAY!!!  Now being the gamer that I am I tend to play more indie games, which is what I spent most of my time doing. One game which I originally seen at Indie Cade in NYC was EarthNight. In the game you play as either  Sydney (14yr high school girl) or Stanley  (freelance photographer) to save the earth which has been taken over by Dragons…I know right…that’s deep. Its beyond beautiful to look at and very fun to play.

My new fave game which I’m look forward to owning is Tumblestone. Its a match 3 puzzle game *I LOVE PUZZLE GAMES*. Both multilayer & solo will be available when released and on multiple platforms as well. Klaus is about an office worker who wakes up in a basement with amnesia, imprisoned in a world of mechanics looking for a way out. He’s an adorable lil character and the gets more challenging as you move along. I think I was in the 3rd chapter and got stuck…but I love a challenge! Life Goes On: Done to Death was a unique game: Kill yourself in order to reach the goal. Well of course not just die but to kill yourself to strategically to help you get to the other side but your dead self help you in special ways.

DSC_8876.JPG

A tetris-ish game called Tricky Towers where you build a tower with tetris pieces up to beat your opponent in a race. I beat every stranger that challenge me lol. There Came An Echo is a voice control thriller/shooter which worked pretty well give the amount of noise in the convention center. Sadly I didn’t get to play is long as I wanted because they started their daily giveaways of which I didn’t win any. Now from SKA Studios also known for the Dishwasher games as well as Charlie Murder, will soon bless us with Salt and Sanctuary. Salt and Sanctuary is a hardcore RPG with full character customization, multiplayer interaction, hidden shortcuts, powerful bosses and of course some bad ass music as they always provide. The game has a dark undertone like most of their games which one let’s you know it’s a SKA game, secondly set it a part style wise from anything else *double bonus awesomeness* and third keep you invested to see what’s coming next.

Rockers Unite

It’s Comic Con Time!!! Along with the coming of the Con they have created something called Super Week where they have event related to Comic Con such as extra panels, after parties & videos games events. One of the Greatest companies in the world: Harmonix released one of the Greatest games in the world: Rockband and it’s the 4th one. Yes Rockband 4 is coming after a long hiatus & they had a party for it. Held at the Hard Rock Cafe  we were given the opportunity to play the game as much as we liked with own made up rock band (friends or strangers aka new friends). Seeing how I am slightly addicted to this game I was in heaven. Their whole dlc catalog was available for playing as well as the song list of Rockband 4. One of the games newest feature is the guitar solo where it provides you more control in creating your own solo. I decided to give it a try and sucked hard at it, think i’ll just stick to the drummers. The best part about the whole night was talking to the developers and finding out that all of the dlc that I bought & play for previous games will work with the new one. I will definitely be getting this game and rocking out on the drums like a rock star!
